Welcome to the IET Festival Competition page. Our goal is to provide an education experience where a festival participant can polish and develop their skills DURING the competition. Unlike other events, the IET are encourages competitors to seek feedback, coaching, and private instruction on their pieces. The finals of the competition is also unique because it is an open concert during the festival. Participants will also receive written commentary on their performances in both rounds of the competition.
APPLICATION DEADLINE: JUNE 9th of the competition year.
Divisions and Eligibility ($35 application fee for each division) 1) Solo Euphonium/Tuba Artist 2) Solo Euphonium/Tuba Student 3) Amateur Solo Division
NOTE: All competitors must be registered for the Full Festival Access of the IET Festival and may enter multiple eligible divisions.
The Artist Solo Division is open to all interested players of any age except professional players working full time as a performer or college level teacher.
The Student Division is open to students age 19 and younger as of June 30 of the current festival year AND must have been enrolled in high school or similar non-college/university program during the festival year.
The Amateur Division is open to any player that is not a professional player or teacher and over 28 years old.
NOTE: Previous winners of the Student competition, may only compete in the Artist Division. Previous winners of the Adult Division may only compete in the Artist division the year following their prize. After that year, they may take part in the Adult Division again.

Adult/Amateur Solo Division Euphonium and tuba will play the same piece in both rounds.

Judges The judges for the competition will be chosen from the Guest Artist and Staff from the IET Festival as well as other professional musicians. Competitors will be assigned a random performance order and submitted Competitors are allowed to have lessons and perform in master classes with the IET Festival Guest Artists as part of the IET Festival.
Do I have to be registered for the entire festival to take part in the competition? YES.
Will I be able to play the competition pieces in my lessons at IET? YES
Will I be able to have lessons with the judges during the week? YES. Our goal is education and the judges will be able to see the competitors.
Will I be able to play my competition pieces in the Master Classes during the IET Festival? Yes you can.
Should I prepare more pieces for IET besides the competition repertoire? ABSOLUTELY!! Prepare other pieces that you want to learn about and improve during the week.
When do I have to decide about the choice pieces? If you division has choices, you need to decide by June 1.
